Currently VOX's text boxes do not work with the iPhone / Touch interface. So no comments or composing new posts for me.
This just might be the perfect opportunity to develop an application for VOX as well to TypePad. You know since you're doing all that work anyways... right?
Upon being asked if this will eventually be added to TypePad and Vox, Six Apart's David Recordon replied by expressing the company's interest in eventually shipping this feature to both platforms. I really look forward to seeing this come to fruition on Vox. I can't wait!
I haven't been posting much over here lately (with the exception of my daily automated Twitter posts) and when I was doing a little reading on enSue's blog, I noticed that you can now add other accounts of yours (like All Consuming, Flickr, Twitter, and Dopplr) to the sidebar. I'd been hoping that would be something that Vox added soon since TypePad added this option a while back and I just love displaying all of the other places you can find me online.
Go ahead and take a look at the sidebar, if you're so inclined, and see where else I'm located. Now if only they would add an option to list your Yelp account, it would be perfect!
I'm sure some of this stuff's on the Product road map, but I'm just adding my two cents and starting my own wish list draft post.
- Personal Messages: a Sent folder
- Personal Messages: the ability to send a PM to multiple users (maybe with a limit of 3 or 4 to prevent spamming
- Invitations: the ability to give people you invite to vox suggested neighbors (this was there and now it's gone - what happened to it?)
- Personal Messages: the ability to check a box when replying to a PM that says "include original text in with reply". I've seen people who are cutting and pasting the original message in the compose window to get it in the reply...I've taken to doing it too. But the original text is right on the page below the reply compose window, it would be good to be able to just include it in the reply for context.
- Share this:
the ability to put a personalized cover note on the email being sent. Seems like a basic requirement that's missing in this feature. The way it is now the person has no idea why I am sending this to them[done]. Emails sent via the Share This feature should appear in my Private Message sent box (assuming this is going to be added). - Invitations: the ability to import my contacts from Outlook, Yahoo mail, Gmail, Linked In, Plaxo or anywhere else.
- Invitations: on the invitation history page, the ability to EDIT the invitation (or at least see it) when you re-send.
- Privacy levels: ability to have a custom friend level of privacy (yes, I know you can kind of do this in Groups, but this would be easier and it would be great to have just one more friend-level privacy designator).
- In the Insert Link option) the ability to (in the "Create a Link" window) allow me to check a box that says "open this link in a new window"...so that when you link to something external your users don't have to leave Vox when they open the link you provided to wikipedia or something non-Vox
- Organize: ability to click on a photo or anything in Organize and have the thing open immediately. It's weird that you have to hover over it first and then click to make anything happen.
- Batch Organize the ability to batch edit anything's privacy levels --including my whole blog and all it's assets if I want to change it.
- View Neighbors: ability to sort my View Neighborhood page or search on it (especially needed as the neighborhood of a user gets bigger). How is is sorted now? I have no idea. It's appears random. Not alphbetically, not by dated added to the Neighborhood. Not by who updated most recently. It's a chaotic page and I have just stared at it for minutes trying to find someone I know is there.
Neighborhood (reading) page: speaking of the Neighborhood (the Explore Neighborhood posts page)...Can we add a link at the top of that page that links to the View Neighborhood (should be View Neighbors) page? That would be very convenient and would not take up all that space that was there when the first several userpics of Neightbors lived at the top of the page. A simple link will do.[done]- Email notification: opt-in ability to get a daily digest of posts from 1) any given privacy group, 2) the whole neighborhood 3) any single blog or group blog 4) all comments in a day to my blog and 5) all "recent activity".
- Tags: ALL my tags on this page! Or at least the top 100 or more. the page is big enough and it would make it so so so much easier to find a tag I know I made to find a post I know is there. Also, a SEARCH box on this page like there is on the Explore and Organize pages. Please please please!
That's all for now...there's more, but I had a free moment and wanted to get these down now while I was thinking about it.
This is why I don't blog as much anymore. I use Twitter and the Facebook status updates as little release values and that way I don’t have to make an entire post about what I had for lunch or the random stuff that pops into my head.
I wish Vox had a status update feature that allowed me to make micro-posts from feeds right off of Twitter. Such a thing (and a few other suggestions I keep making to no one in particular at Six Apart) would make Vox so much more useful to me because I use Vox in this semi-public journa-like way.
And while I am making suggestions to no one in particular, I also would like to have a feature back that was a part of Vox way back before it launched publicly…a running “Vox Watch” of all the comments I have on other people’s posts. I’d like to be able to see all of say, Karen’s comments too…or any one of my friends and neighbors.
Anyway, it would be great to have a Vox version of a Facebook “status update” that I could SMS in as post or that updated at the top of the page in a sidebar widget. Because if there was such a thing, then you’d get to see this scintillating running log of my random thoughts and whereabouts like you can on Twitter.

I've created a similar group http://reciprocity.groups.vox.com/ and am thinking of merging the two
Would that make sense ?
In any case please join http://reciprocity.groups.vox.com/ if you are interested !
PS I've tried to invite all "Mutual Friends" to http://reciprocity.groups.vox.com/ but due a MAJOR irritation with VOX the group member drop down lists users in a DIFFERENT order (uses nicknames ?) to the names listed in group members page (uses aliases ?) so it is almost impossible to find you amongst my 100's of contacts if ALL your name variants are NOT the same as in most cases !
I've just signed up to participate in Blog Action Day on the 15th of October. I think someone has come up with a very good idea here and if people put a bit of thought into it we could see some very interesting discussion sending a wave through the net on the 15th.
Perhaps the Vox Team would be interested in getting involved and therefore encouraging Vox users to lend their combined posting support :)
What is it?
On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind - the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.
http://blogactionday.org/get_involved
When adding a post I oftern want to add it to more than one group ! So could we have a multi-select list and Groups Of Groups grouping (via tags) !
For example I'm likely to want to post an article about photography to Amateur Photographers, Photographers, Photo Editing and unlikely to post it to Ambient, Ecology etc etc
Just have a look at ohloh which uses artifical intelligence to think of appropriate tags for a post maybe VOX could do the same to auto suggest VOX tags & groups
I signed up with VOX a couple of days ago.. since it was weekend.. I had plenty-a-time to blog : )
There are alot of wonderful things about VOX, lots of great features... but it's missing a key element...
I don't mind the fact that you can't re-arrange the sidebar, I don't mind the google ads every other post, after all this is a free community and it has to be supported somehow, what I do miss is that there is no built-in blogroll/link management.
Speaking for myself - I would like to be able to link to my non-vox friends and their blogs. So that is it.. simple really..
LINK MANAGEMENT - one little table with a couple of fields connected to each person's id...voila done!
